Preview: 4A District I
- Teams:
- Lakeland, Sandpoint, Moscow
- Qualfiers:
- Top two placers in each weight class qualify for state
- Key Updates:
- Seth Wright (3rd in 4A) transfers from Lakeland to Post Falls;
- Sandpoint picks up a pair of Oregon transfers
- Addition of talented freshman Garrett Belgarde to Sandpoint's line up; Addition of talented freshman Joe
Vallie to Moscow's line up
- Key Questions:
- Will Lakeland compensate for the departure of Wright?
- As a coach Sandpoint's new mentor Kirk Hartzell will be fine; however, how will he deal with replacing Randles' amazingly
good looks?!
- The IdahoWrestler's Pre Season Dominators:
-
- Lakeland-Richardson, Stoors, McCrite
- Moscow-Merickle
- Sandpoint-Belgarde, Pepperdine, Presser, Winter
- The League :
- Lakeland and Sandpoint should battle for top honors. Lakeland may very well have three state finalists in their line up
while the Bulldogs field a bit more depth. The Bears from Moscow should find a kinder and gentler league in 07-08
- The Teams :
- (Predicted order of district finish--Not necessarily the same as predicted order of state finish)

By all appearances, the Bulldogs cleaned out the cupboard in 2007--still the Dogs appear to field a formidable line up,
including six state qualfiers, a pair of Oregon brothers, and a talented freshman. In addition to defending champ Pepperdine
the Dogs will count on Sid Winter who was one match removed from hardware in 07--losing to a fellow Bulldog for that spot.

Timmy Pepperdine (103-1st);
Colter Sigmund (103); Sid Winter (135); Leonard Fister (145); Sam Sisson (152); Jacob Knaggs (160); Marineau (171); Presser
(125)

Coming into the school year, the Hawks appeared to field a questionable dual team but a solid tournament team. With the
loss of Seth Wright, the Hawks will have to rely on others to help them return to the state's elite. Make no mistake, however,
the Hawks still boast some of the state's best in Brandon Richardson, Kyle McCrite, and Tristan Stoors. Richardson, who captured
the title at 119 as a freshman, will continue his quest to become one of Idaho's few four-time champions.

Kyle McCrite (119) 2nd;
Brandon Richardson (119) 1st; Tristan Stores (125); Brian Ramus (215)

A year ago, the Bears were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, competing with Sandpoint and Lakeland--two of
the state's top three 4A programs--for district honors. The Bears should improve profoundly on their 2-qualifiers last season.
Not only were the Bears young, but they've also added state freestyle runner-up Joe Vallie to their line up.
